What You Should Bring:

General Guidelines For Clothing

"Mommy, Daddy & Me" Portraits (for babies 0-2 weeks):
For newborns: dress the baby in a onesy so the clothing
can be easily removed.
For moms: a black tube top (my clothing choice for moms)
or a solid color long sleeve blouse/shirt is great.
Your hair and make-up should be done as if you
were going out for the evening.
For dads: a solid color shirt (long and short sleeve).

3 Months Old:
Bring only two outfits. Tip: Dark tones look better
than light tones. Solid colors are better than
stripes or patterns, however some patterns
and motifs can work so bring
them if you think they might work.

6 Months Old:
This is the stage where most of the photos are traditional
“naked fanny” photos that have been done for
generations. Bring only two outfits.
Solid colors are better than stripes or patterns.
However some patterns and motifs can work
so bring them if you think they might work.
Please avoid white.

9 Months Old:
For all other stages, bring 5 or more outfits,
so we can decide what will look the best. Solid colors are
better than stripes or patterns.
However some patterns and motifs can work so bring
them if you think they might work. Please avoid white.
Hair should be kept out of the eyes. Shoes may not be
necessary as we like to keep the children barefoot.
(And please don’t tell your child to say “cheese")

1 year and up
I suggest solid colors, avoiding busy patterns or logos/words.
However some patterns and motifs can work so bring them
if you think they might work.
Jeans, overalls, sun/slip dresses; khakis are
classic and photograph well. I especially like bright colors
and layering different colors and textures together
to add a little style and fun.
Cute leggings and hats are always great too.

If children are being photographed together, clothes
that are similar in style and color give a more coordinated look.
Bare feet are especially fun, and kids love it too. If shoes
are preferred, please make sure they are in good
shape and not scuffed. Consider dressing in the color white
sparingly, for this color often reflects light strongly.
I suggest bringing 5 or more outfits
allowing me to help you make the final
choice on what would best suit the look and feel you
want for your child's portraits.

Family Sessions

Family photographs are special.
Clothing choices are just as important for family
sessions, as other sessions. I highly suggest coordinating
your clothing in color and style.

Please be wary of stripes, plaid, words and
logos on your clothing. These things can be a distraction
from your beautiful family. Bare feet are great
for family sessions too!

In conclusion, clothing choices
are important. As your photographer, I want you to see
who your child is, and not just what outfit they were wearing.
Clothing should compliment your child’s look, not complicate it.
Please contact me if you have any further questions about
clothing before our session.
